FAQ - Keep Your Dog Hotline
I am at my limit with my dog - Will the hotline help?
That is what we’re here for! Ideally, reach out before you’re wanting to rehome your dog as results don’t happen overnight! We need time for training plans to be implemented, etc.
Reach out whenever you need help with your dog, whether it’s medical, behavioral, etc. and we can offer resources along the way! Think of this as a check-in when you get stuck, and we can point you in the right direction.
What can I expect with the KYD call?
The call will last about an hour and will go over a training, management, and safety plan, along with a list of resources and an action plan. There will be a lot of information gathering so we can develop the most accurate plan - Honesty helps us help you!
Who can I expect on the other line?
The questionnaire we request will help us match you with a volunteer. Generally, our volunteers are those that are certified dog trainers, experienced in these sorts of calls.
Why do you offer a sliding scale?
We want this resource to be accessible to everyone - A sliding scale allows you to pay what you can afford. The more you can offer, the more we can offer vouchers to those in the community!
Why do I need to complete this before applying for a training voucher?
These calls help us evaluate the circumstances, best possible outcomes, and to match you with the appropriate trainer for the training voucher. This also gives you a lifeline in the meantime before training starts and demonstrates your commitment to keeping your pup.
Why do I need to sign a liability waiver?
These calls are advisory calls, and we cannot guarantee outcomes. This liability waiver protects our volunteers so they can continue to offer extremely affordable advice.
How long until I hear back after submitting a form request?
Please allow up to a week for us to reach out so we can appropriately match you with a volunteer.
